Dr. G. Radhakrishnan
Crop Science Expert
Radhakrishnan is President of the Life Science Advisory Group at Sathguru Management Consultants. He comes with 21 years of seed industry experience specializing in the areas of breeding, trait research and development. He has served Nunhems (Vegetable Seeds business, earlier part of Bayer and now part of BASF) at various global R&D functional leadership, management, and strategic roles. He steered, established, and managed global R&D teams, platforms, and labs in APAC, EMEA and Americas for developing superior and novel hybrids with value added traits and resistance to devastating pathogens and insects for global customers. His expertise is in the crop R&D strategy development and implementation, project management, collaboration, networking, people management and business management systems. In his current role, he leads the life science advisory group with a specific focus on business and innovation advisory and responsible for the entire Agri Input Advisory practice across industry sub-segments (Seeds, Ag Chemicals, Ag Biologicals, Ag Biotech & Ag Tech).
He served as both member and chairman of multiple steering committees at Bayer and BASF Vegetable Seeds, overseeing global integrated breeding projects, sustainability initiatives, IP protection, and institutional biosafety. Additionally, he contributed as a member to the ICAR-APSA Joint Working Group, the Seed Health Experts Committee under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, the APSA R&D Advisory Group, and the Dutch Delegation for the Agri-Food Innovation Mission to India 2020 focusing on Climate Smart Agriculture. He was the industry mentor of two Ph.D. students (ICAR-IARI, Bangalore) who did research under the Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme in India. He is currently a member of the prestigious World Agriculture Forum Council and the ICFA Telangana Agriculture Council. Additionally, he serves as the Associate Director for the USAID-funded Feed the Future Insect-Resistant Eggplant Partnership project.
He holds a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the premier Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, research internship from the World Vegetable Center, Taiwan, and executive education from INSEAD and Harvard Business School. Dr. Radhakrishnan has been honoured with numerous awards, recognitions, and fellowships in the realm of agriculture and life science research, including the notable ICAR Jawaharlal Nehru Award and the Indian Virological Society Young Scientist Award.
